1. Remove competing growth
Clear existing weeds, unwanted grass, roots, rubbish and loose debris. Weed treatment may need time to work before the area is cultivated or reshaped. Follow product directions and tell us what has been applied.
2. Shape levels and drainage
Complete major earthworks, drainage and finished levels before hydroseeding. Avoid low points that hold water and direct runoff so it does not wash through the newly applied area.
3. Check the topsoil
The seed needs suitable soil—not only hard, compacted fill. Soil may need imported topsoil, amendment or testing depending on the site and intended result. Remove large rocks and break down hard clods.
4. Create a suitable surface
The final surface should be even, lightly loosened and ready for seed contact. Heavy machinery should finish before final preparation so it does not re-compact or track the area.
5. Plan access
Confirm where our Vortec Commander trailer can safely park and the distance to the furthest spraying point. Tell us about gates, narrow access, traffic control, overhead hazards, steep approaches or soft ground.
6. Have water ready
Reliable irrigation or another watering plan should be in place before application. Fresh hydroseeding usually needs frequent, gentle watering, particularly during the first weeks. Coverage needs to reach the entire area without causing runoff.
